Remember to get it out of your head and write them as SMART goals: Simple, Measurable, Actionable, Relevant, and Time-Bound.įurther, tasks can be assigned the following attributes: DescriptionĪdd the context you need to get working on the item. You can create sub-projects, or a Todoist project within a larger, more complex project. Todoist creates a “No Section” column for to-dos that are not categorized. You can organize major areas of your life, work, or business into Todoist projects containing all your task lists, so you can accomplish your goals. First, at the top level of Todoist’s organizational hierarchy are Projects: Projects In this section, we will review the important features of Todoist, so you can implement the to-do list app to work for your life or business. Todoist also has great offline support, so you can still add and edit tasks even if you’re not connected to the internet. Once you’ve created a task, Todoist will automatically sync across all of your devices, so you can access your to-do list from anywhere. Todoist makes it easy to see what needs to be done and when it needs to be done. You can also assign tasks to other people, which is perfect for work projects or group collaborations. You can add as many details as you want to each task, including subtasks, notes, deadlines, and reminders. Todoist works by allowing you to create and manage tasks from a simple to-do list interface. Not as customizable or scalable as ClickUp.Pricier than other to-do list apps at $36 per year. Some fiddling is required to create custom views. The Windows app isn’t as good as the Mac app.Todoist has a lot of white space, which I find can make things all look too uniform, but this is the way I make the current week more obvious. That is so it pops out in the Projects View. You’ll notice that each of the weekly parent tasks has an star emoji marking it. In addition, if I go into Projects, I can see it. Instead, I simply set the parent task to "no due date." That eliminates the parent task from my list for Today, but any subtasks that are assigned to today still remain. Doing that would mark all of the subtasks as complete as well, and I haven't even gotten started on them. Once I have dates set for all of the subtasks, I DO NOT check the parent task off as complete. And I put dates into each of the subtasks. Now I take a look at my calendar for the week and plan out when I want to accomplish each thing. Now, to plan out my tasks for the week, I go to each of these weekly overview tasks and expand them so that I can see all of the subtasks. So, this is a bit of a simplified view, since I would normally have a bunch of other non-grad school tasks in my Today list, but here's what I have on a given Monday. In addition, for each of my classes, the weekly parent task will pop up on Mondays. I have a general task on Mondays to organize and plan out my grad school tasks for the week.
